First Parish of Sudbury

Public/WhatToExpect
Hi Guest | sign in | print
We hope you will visit First Parish of Sudbury for worship some Sunday morning soon.  But we realize that you may feel uncomfortable about doing so, not knowing what to expect.  To let you know what happens after you arrive, we’ve outlined your next steps, so you can see how easy it is.

First you’ll need a parking place.  There are some spots reserved for visitors in the church parking lot, but if you are not an early bird, and find the church parking lot full, use the large parking lot across the street behind the Grange and the Town Hall, allowing a few extra minutes to walk to the church. Come in the door by the parking lot.

Stop at the Greeters lectern in the foyer, say hello, sign the Visitors book, and get a temporary nametag.  A greeter will give you a Welcome card that explains about the worship service.  Information about events and programs at First Parish of Sudbury is available on the small table in the foyer, and there are many pamphlets relating to Unitarian Universalism in racks on the larger table in the foyer and in the Parish Hall.

Directions for Children's R.E. (Religious Exploration) and children’s activities are posted on the easel in the lobby and the greeter will be happy to direct you or make introductions.

Sit anywhere in the sanctuary upstairs for the worship service (which lasts about one hour), and then follow the crowd downstairs into the Parish Hall for coffee hour – where coffee is not the only option.  We hope you'll stop by the Welcome table to ask any questions you may have, to get a packet of information about us, and to hand in your Welcome card.  On the back of the card you can fill in your contact information, so you can receive our newsletter and we can be in touch with you.

With a special visitor’s mug in hand, you will meet many people during the coffee hour.  If you would like more information or would like to meet a specific person, just ask.

You can visit one of the children's groups with your child or enroll your children in Religious Exploration ("R.E.") at any time. You can pick up a  registration form in your child's class or contact Tracy Duncan, the R.E. director for more information.

Check out the calendar in the “Sunday News” (in the order of service which an usher will hand you as you enter the sanctuary) and postings of other social events and activities on our bulletin boards in the Parish Hall. Join any activity that interests you.

Our minister, Rev. Katie Lee Crane, will be glad to sit down with you to answer any questions you may have, or just to get to know you better. Meeting with our minister is a great way to discover how your interests and gifts can find a home at First Parish of Sudbury.

And, by the way, there is no need to get "dressed up" when you come.  Dress is casual.
